Contacting the firm does not make it your lawyer
Using this site, sending a form or writing to the firm does not create a lawyer–client relationship. That begins only when the firm confirms in writing that it can act for you and the terms of that work are agreed.
Messages are not private
Email and web forms are not secure. Until the firm has confirmed it acts for you, what you send is not privileged, so please do not send confidential documents or sensitive details.
What the site does not promise
The site and its contents are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law permits. The firm does not promise that the site will always be available, or that its information is complete or current. Nothing here is a promise about how any matter will turn out.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law permits, the firm is not liable for any loss or damage arising from using this site, from anything on it, or from being unable to use it. Nothing in these terms removes a right you have under Ontario's consumer protection law.
Using the site properly
Use this site lawfully. Do not try to break into it, disrupt it, or introduce anything harmful, and do not use it in a way that interferes with anyone else's use.
Who owns the content
The text, images, layout and design of this site belong to the firm or to those who licensed them to it. You may read it, and print or save a copy for your own use. Anything else — copying, republishing or reusing it — needs the firm's written permission.
Other websites
Links to other websites are for convenience only. The firm does not endorse or control them, and visiting them is at your own risk.
Payments
The "Pay online" link goes to Stripe, which handles the payment under its own terms. What you owe the firm, and when, is set by the retainer or invoice the firm agrees with you, not by this website.
Privacy
The privacy policy explains what this site collects and how it is handled, and forms part of these terms.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it, and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you use this site from somewhere else, you are responsible for following the law that applies to you.
The rest
If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If the firm does not enforce a term, it has not given up the right to do so later. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and the firm about this website.
